AS SEEN IN THE JAN/FEB 2008 ISSUE
Captain Mike,
Fishing between
two small docks with of all things, ballyhoo, I caught the surprise of my life.
I had two baits in the water off two separate outfits; one spooled with braid
and the other with mono. After 15 minutes, braid started screaming off my
reel. Simultaneously, the rod doubled over. I fought the monster for
a short time but couldn’t prevent it from wrapping me around a piling and
busting me off. Just as my heart sank, I noticed that my other outfit was now
doubled-over.
After fighting the powerful fish for a short time, I was
able to get it to the seawall where I could see it was a snook – a giant snook!
When I pulled the fish out of the water and opened its mouth to dislodge the
hook, to my surprise, the leader with the braid that had busted off earlier was
also there. Thanks in advance for getting me in your fine magazine and for
the great tips - Sean Black
