July 8th, Lake St. Clair Fishing Report From The Michigan Side

TODAY WAS dream summer day. After a great 4th of July weekend the Johnson family fished aboard "Golden Streaker" for their annual fishing outting.

Bill Johnson takes the family on an annual fishing trip. This was the 2nd year with Captain Frank. Perfect weather made it a dream day. BUT catching smallmouth bass was the target species. After the long holiday Captain Frank was worried that the fish were going to be hiding????

Fishing report for 7-7-08 from D. M. Navarro @ the World Class Angler in Marathon.  
 
The nice weather and calm seas has produced some fine catches lately for most anglers.  The ability for most craft to venture out over most of the local fishing grounds has been awarded with quite a bit more action as well.  The deep waters offshore, over 700 feet, has produced some very large dolphin, tunas, wahoo and more than a couple of 'David -Vs- Goliath' type stories.  Or if you prefer, 'The Old Man & the Sea.'

July 3, 2008:
    Today I was invited to go wreck fishing with my friend Chuck Laughridge on some local wrecks where the fly fishing for Amberjack, Cobia, Kingfish, Spanish Mackerel, along with sharks has been good foo the past several weeks. I arrived at Chuck's dock on Harkers Island at 5:30 AM and we were underway at 5:35. After a one hour trip in Chuck's super fast Pathfinder bay boat we arrived at what is locally called the "D" wreck. I was fishing a 10 weight TFO TiCr fly rod with my Mako #9550 fly reel, and a RIO T-11 30 foot shooting head and a 5 inch deciever (White and Chartreuse on a 3/0 owner hook while using 20 pound fluero carbon class tippet. Chuck was using a Mako Reel with a Streamer express (400 GR?) fly line on an 11 weight rod.
