INSHORE:

May has brought us some great fishing around the river and the usual conditions to test your fishing skills, too. I had to get out today in spite of what the weather predicted for winds. It was a mostly a scouting trip for redfish. Mornings aren't too bad to fish around the river and top water works well this time of year. Look to the islands to give you plenty of areas to fish and use the wind to your advantage. May will continue to give us warmer water and great fishing action on the Treasure Coast.

May 16th 2008   Indian River Lagoon Coast Fishing Report

During the past two weeks, our temperatures have been pleasant and the bait is continuing to return to the Lagoons. Water levels have risen considerably giving the fish plenty of places to explore that they have been unable to access for quite some time.

Captain Ariel Cabrera Fishing ReportMay 16th, 2008

We are now officially springing into summer. And it sure feels like it. The snook, redfish, tarpon have been very comfortable with the warm water temperatures. The other big "plus" is that the howling winds will begin to lie down and make sight fishing and getting out a little further much easier.

The bite is on!

More so then the Dolphin, Sailfish are making a great appearance on the reef. Live bait has been the key for us, preferably the Goggle Eyez.

Temperatures are warming up and with the lack of rain, the water clarity has been very clean. Early mornings has the Kingfish biting and if you can get away from them long enough you can get the Sailfish to pile up on a bait. Tom Golan and his crew had a good time catching 1 out of 2 Sailfish. We had to chase down our fish as he showed no signs of giving up. This fish was fresh and had lots of energy.

Sailfishing Fort Lauderdale

May fishing has started off with a bang. Sailfish continue to make frequent appearances. They just cant get enough of those goggle eyes under the kite. Not many people get the chance to catch one of these beautiful, fast and acrobatic gamefish and to do so is to be lucky. Big kings are also assaulting the live baits and trolled baits. Some wahoos have shown up in recent days and of course bonitas.

Tampa Bay, Tarpon Springs, Clearwater & St. Petersburg

I've got some upcoming tarpon fishing charters in St. Petersburg and I've been so busy catching redfish, snook and trout in Tarpon Springs that I haven't had a chance to try for tarpon yet. So, yesterday I had a rare day off and I called my good friend Jody to see if he wanted to go tarpon fishing. He said he was game.
