Mother Nature was not been kind to us this week. Tuesday we were blown off the water, Thursday rain, lightning and wind resulted in a cancelled trip.

As I write this the water in my canal is rising. Tropical storm Fay is just south of Key West. I hope everyone makes it through this one with minimal problems. On a slightly positive note this could improve fishing and lobster hunting in the Lower Keys. Sometimes high seas and milky water displace fish and lobster.

On our trip up north my wife Shirley always looks forward to trout fishing with her fly rod. After loosing the first 3 trout she finally landed the big one 10 lb rainbow. I took the picture with the fly rod next to it so you can get an idea how big this one ways. Caught on a Henderson fly.

Last week it was rain and wind but this week it gets serious. We were not able to match clients and conditions last week so I stayed busy with home projects. This week “Fay” is expected to visit and she could be a big problem. Hurricanes do help flush our waters and provide rains to fill rivers and lakes but it stirs everything up too.

I had the pleasure of taking AJ Pereira of Longwood Florida out after some Mosquito Lagoon redfish before he starts college next week at the University of Central Florida. The morning started off slow with the heavy cloud cover keeping the sun under wraps.
