Tuesday was much improved from the last few days. I changed gears and traveled to the Ruskin / Apollo Beach areas. Today’s angler Ricky from Boston had 4 snook on his first four casts. Fly lining small white baits worked best, bigger baits were left unmolested. The water was cooler than lower Tampa Bay flats; I firmly believe that positively impacted our results.

This morning we took Mark and his wife out fishing from Omaha. It was a beautiful day! We caught live ballyhoo at “the can” and continued on our way. We headed offshore to about 350-400 feet and deployed a full set of live ballyhoo. We were slow trolling for about 35 minutes... no action.

A family from Long Island showed up from Long Island, looking for a local drift boat. Right now is boat show time, and the Flamingo with the rest of the boats at Bahia Mar have been displaced.

Current fishing conditions dictated an afternoon bite. Seatrout, redfish and snook were the target species. Ron Whiteley of Rotunda, Fl. caught redfish to 30 inches on Estaz marabou flies in north Gasparilla Sound near the Boca Grande Causeway.

The Philadelphia Flyers are in town, and the whole team set up a 5 boat convention, with 6 teammates on each boat. The coordinator made it a lot of fun. They turned it into a little tournament… biggest fish, most fish and smallest fish. The stage was set!

Fishing has been good the past two weeks and we took full advantage of it. Large schools of glass minnows are all around the St. Lucie inlet and the predators are having a feast. Spanish mackerel, bonita, jacks and blue runners were caught by us as we were headed offshore.
