Last Florida Keys Tarpon Report
June 20, - 27, 2008
Greetings from Tarpon World:
My 98 year old Mom and I are heading home to North Carolina tomorrow morning, My truck is packed, and the skiff is cleaned and has the cover tied down to the trailer ready for travel. This was a good Tarpon season weather wise although we has lots of wind and clouds I fished 66 out of 75 days which were booked. Seems that we did pretty good as most of my clients have already begun booking dates for next years Tarpon Season.

7-1-08 - HUGE CHANGE!

Had Dan Kelly and his two sons out for a day of pulling on big fish. So I hoped.

But like a 6th sense, I just had a funny feeling this morning. It was cooler, which is always welcomed. But just felt different than, last Thursday. If you aren't sweating hard at 8am in the heat, it's just not a typical late June day on the water. Greenies at the rocks, were the usual hunt and peck, to catch them.

Fishing Report 07/01/2008 – Capt. Terry Frankford

Angler's aboard the Reelin and Chillin have been catching, trout, redfish, mangrove snapper, pompano, permit, and bluefish, to name a few more popular species.

When I have the time to cover many of my favorite locations, sooner or later one or more of these will produce. This proved true with four angler's out on a full day trip. We would hit a spot, fish for a few minutes, if we had action we would stay - if not we would move on. All angler's managed a respectable catch, Andria started off with a nice trout around eighteen inches caught just at the north end of Quick Pt. where the flats met with the channel.

The month of June was about as up & down as we have seen in a while.  Air temperatures, winds, clouds, rain, created a day by day scenario on the fishing.  One day you’re a hero and the next day you’re working hard to keep from being a zero.  This report will give a brief overlay of the type of trips we had this past month and their outcome.

Capt. Rich reported completely INSANE fishing on Thursday’s 16 Hour Special American Red Snapper Extended Day trip.  All anglers aboard met their limit of American Reds, and released loads of them up to 15 pounds.

They also managed to catch a handful of amberjacks up to 30lbs, lane, mangrove and yellow tail snapper as well as assorted gag and red grouper. Capt. Rich had decided to take the chance by making a long trip and it was worth it!
