Captain Jake Jordan

Greetings from Eastern North Carolina:

A week ago I spent Wednesday through Friday at the I-Cast show in Orlando Florida, working with my friends in the TFO rods booth.

The show was crowded and the TFO booth was busy during the entire show, Lefty Kreh, Gary Loomis, Nick Curcione, Flip Pallot, and I along with Rick Pope, and his crew from the factory talked to hundreds of dealers who were there checking out new products and placing pre season orders. I saw lots of old friends and met many new folks who are relatively new to the industry.

Jim Turner and his crew from Casa Vieja Lodge and Release Boat Works had a booth at the show, Captain Chris Sheeder was in the booth promoting both the Boats and the lodge. It looks like the 2012/2013 season is going to be the busiest ever at Casa Vieja Lodge, I still have a few openings left for prime time trips to my Sailfish School at CVL.

Fishing Report

My old friend Jack Erskin from Cairns Australia was at the show, we had several meetings where we discussed the times that we fished and/or worked on projects together. The day after the show I received a phone call letting me know that Jack had passed away the night after the show ended. Jack new more about drag systems on reels than anyone alive, he was a great angler weather it was Fly Spin, Plug or Big Game fishing, those who met him were very lucky, he will be missed by our industry. My prayers are with his family.

This year my friend Pete Grim has finished the work on his world class wilderness lodge in Icy Bay Alaska. I have attached to this E-mail the travel guide for those heading to "ICY Bay Lodge" this fall. Icy Bay produces the best "Top Water" fly fishing for Silver Salmon that I have ever experienced, in real comfort where you will never see another person during your week at the lodge who is not at the lodge. Icy Bay Lodge had several large groups of clients cancel at the last minute which leaves several prime time weeks with last minute openings. If you have any interest, contact me for some information regarding spending a week at this awesome location at a greatly reduced price, these prices will never be available again.

Next week I will be here in my office most of the week, i will be working on my Sailfish Schools, and my Sailfish Tournament for the up coming season. Also I will be trying to fill up my available dates fro my Albie fly fishing season here in the Cape Lookout region of Eastern North Carolina (October and November). Contact me soon if you have plans to join me here for this awesome fishery. I love my job, stay tuned for more fishing reports to follow soon.
