Exclusive Report Fishing buddies and perpetual SeaSquared Charters customers, (L-R) Mike O'Neall, John Casey and Butch Robertson, all of Indiana, returned for another try at dolphin fishing. Capt. Chris Johnson's strategy was ""find the birds and we'll find the fish."" And such was the case. About 18 miles offshore there were birds working schools of dolphin and they proceded to put many schoolies in the boat. Not finding any large fish, Capt. Chris decided to come inshore and try dropping on some wrecks for mutton snapper and grouper. Conditions were less than ideal with a roaring current that produced a drift of 2.2 to 2.5 knots, which prevented the bait from being presented properly. They moved inshore to some shallower waters where the current was slow enough to allow the fish to catch the bait but, unfortunately, instead of the guys enjoying a grouper dinner, the sharks did. Enough dolphin were caught in the first half of the day to put a plentiful spread on the table at Sparky's Landing in Key Colony Beach.
