Fishing out of Miami and in Biscayne Bay has been good over the last months. It is warm and for most anglers it's time for Tarpon. Large schools have been moving up and down the coast as anglers get shots at them with flies and live crabs. Most of our Tarpon fishing has been for smaller Tarpon in the bay. Most days they eat whatever you throw.

Early morning has been the best time as they roll in deeper water. As the sun comes up they will go into the Mangroves and sit in the shade making it hard to find them at times. They are great targets with light tackle. Bonefishing has also been good in the morning with fish tailing and moving in schools on top of the flats. The wind is up and this has made it tough for anglers to see fish. Get out early to see tails and that will get you a few extra shots that can make or break the day. Small flies in a shrimp pattern is what we use and has been productive for these tailing fish.

The Back Country of the Everglades has had a good run this year and we had a few last minute trips back there for Snook and Redfish. Most days it was throwing flies on the shorelines for laid up fish. Spinning rods with gold spoons and or soft plastic baits worked well. Most Snook now are on the spawn and it is all catch and release for a while.

Permit fishing has been getting good with strong tides and strong winds. Tides are the most important but strong winds can really bring in the fish from the reef. They spend most of their time in that area and when water warms up and the wind blows good,they come to the flats in larger numbers to feed. Fish the edges of the channels and give it sometime and then move on to the next channel.
