This weeks fishing has been bordering on Phenomenal for the Fly Anglers. With all the warm weather we are having and the extreme low tides we have been really racking up the numbers in Snook, Tarpon, and Reds. Bait fishing in the afternoons has been quite good too as long as you can get to where the fish are. For Naples anglers it means a trip to Gordon’s Pass.
Wow what a week it has been multiple trips with great fishing occurring on each trip, whether it be night or day it seems the big Snook have been on fire especially in Gordon’s Pass on the morning outgoing tide. I thought I was in the North East at a Bluefish and Striper Blitz. Thankfully not it was just Tarpon and Snook, tough dilemma what to fish for? The night fishing has been the same with multiple nights this week in Naples and Marco catching multiple 26 to 36 inch Snook. One particular catch of note was for the Manufacturers Rep Guy Tilotsen who boated a Snook over 36 inches on one of the New TFO Axiom 6 weight rods. My Kudos to him he did a great job fighting that fish that went multiple times into the backing. Bringing up the rear were catches of Tarpon both large and small from the outside to the inside and a fair number of Redfish that we could find tailing in the low back country waters. Fishing out of my 17 tunnel I was able to get where no one else dared go and capitalized on some extra skinny fishing. I didn’t see another boat all week. Bait fishing was very good this week also. You just had to stay to the outside which wasn’t a problem, lots of bait at the near shore wrecks and plenty to catch out their including Kings and Spanish along with a few Cobia. What a problem to have do we go out and fish for Pelagics or stay in for the other species. Things are probably going to change a little this next week with a front about to hit us. The weatherman are calling for a pretty severe one but that remains to be seen. I have heard this before and most fronts this year have sizzled out. I would look forward to a little cool down. It might be nice to fish winter style instead of summer style. Any how get out and take advantage the fishing for the end of the year has been phenomenal. Thanks Roan z.
