Need A Bigger Boat For Tampa Bay!The colder weather hasn’t slowed the fishing down! We did, however, change how we were fishing as well as the areas we were fishing in. This time of year the fish do a lot of moving, and at times they can be tough to catch. Last week we were able to get the bite on and catch some great fish. We haven’t fished for tarpon lately, but with the increase in the water temperature and the big bait back these fish should be back. Over the next few weeks we should be doing some tarpon fishing, so we will let you know at a later date if the fish are still around! Snook fishing was great a few days last week. We also encountered a few slower days due to the pressure changes too. The pressure can affect fishing at times. It can make the fish turn off even when the tide is perfect. We only had 1 to 2 days where we had a little trouble with snook fishing due to the pressure changes. But… we still caught a good number of fish on those days. It just took a bit more work to catch them. When the fish are swimming around your bait, but not biting the bait, move around a bit. Many of the snook we’ve been catching in are in the shallow waters of the rivers. Like the snook, pressure changes affect redfish as well. At times one fish is affected more than the other fish, but for the most part, we haven’t had any trouble getting on a great redfish bite. On cold days these fish will move up to the shallow water, making the fish hard to catch on tides where the water really isn’t high or low. On mid tides there isn’t enough water for the fish to be up close to the shore and it’s not low enough for the fish to be off the flat in holes. Many times at this time of year, we will catch many different species of fish in one spot. Please visit www.castawaychartersinc.com and book your trip today!
