Good Fishing Between Cold FrontsThe fishing has been good inbetween cold fronts. On a recent trip during a local tourment, Capt. Jeremy Heimes of Day Away Charters and myself managed to get on some pretty decent fish. We had good luck landing upper slot size reds in the back country around Terra Ceia.
These fish were plentiful and quick to take a bait. Mixed in with the redfish were a few short snook and tons of small trout. All of these fish were taken around an oyster bar on a high tide using live sardines.
We also manged to get on some big trout in the 20+ inch range. The trout were caught drift fishing the grass flats in Miguel's Bay. Jigs worked well ,but it was a sardine under a popping cork that landed the big one of the day.
All in all, not bad day of fishing considering we had to brave 20-30 mile per hour winds an a heavy chop, brought on by an approaching front.
