Since our first issue debuted nearly a decade ago, Florida Sport Fishing has been proudly showcasing works of art on our covers from the state's most accomplished marine artists. Now we're on a mission to uncover Florida's undiscovered talent. Could you be our next cover artist?
If you are an aspiring painter, or you know a friend or relative who is, today may just be somebody's lucky day. Due to popular demand, Florida Sport Fishing is thrilled to announce our 1st Annual Cover Contest. Unlike the majority of us who can barely sketch a legible stick figure, there are many truly gifted individuals across our region who deserve an opportunity at having their masterpiece featured on our May/June 2011 cover. This may just be the big break you've been waiting for!
Every artist will tell you that he or she painstakingly creates inspiring works of art stroke-by-stroke not because they are obligated to, but because they have a real passion for expressing their creativity on canvas. They also truly enjoy sharing exciting moments in time with the rest of us. Now it's our turn to give back.
Common knowledge says you shouldn't judge a book by its cover alone, however our catchy covers can't be overlooked. Our innovative designs have won prestigious awards and are just one of the many facets that keep Florida Sport Fishing at the forefront of must-have angling resources. Don't let this unique opportunity pass you by. Submit an existing piece that you believe is exceptional, or start with a blank canvas and create something special.
On a different note, we wanted to take a moment to remind our readers to visit FSFMAG.com for everything fishing and boating in Florida and beyond. We've recently updated our navigation to ensure an exciting and informative viewer experience. A number of our exclusive online features include a statewide reef locater, Google Earth module to help pinpoint new fishing areas, a comprehensive NOAA Marine Forecast tool, and the latest fishing reports directly from regional experts so you know when the bite's hot and when it's not. While you're there, make it a point to visit our all-new DVD store.
In closing, our crew wishes everyone a wonderful and safe upcoming holiday season and we hope to see you on the water.
