Igloo Expands The Yukon™ Cold Lockers Line

KATY, Texas - Igloo Products Corp., the nation’s largest cooler manufacturer, introduced the Yukon™ “Cold Locker” for the serious outdoorsman in early 2012, and is now expanding the current four model line to include additional sizes, colors and wheeled cold lockers.

Due to high demand, Igloo has tripled its capacity in order to meet retailer and consumer volume. Later in 2012, Igloo will devote a portion of its Katy, Texas facility to rotational molding equipment for the purpose of better servicing this fast growing line of products in the Igloo portfolio. Igloo will proudly add the title of “Made in America” to its Yukon line beginning in August of 2012.

According to Igloo executive vice president and chief product officer, David Thornhill, the expansion is in response to a need in the market for a high-end, roto-molded cooler that can be easily transported. ”You don’t always have an extra set of hands around to move a fully loaded cooler, no matter how tough you are.” Thornhill explained. “These wheeled Yukons are going to make a one man move much easier.”

The expanded line includes two wheeled cold lockers—the Yukon 50-quart Roller and the 90 quart Yukon Glide™. Each model will have over-sized “Never Flat” wheels for easy transport, and will be made with all the durability and quality construction expected of the ultimate cooler. The Yukon 50 quart Roller will feature Super Stabilizer Technology™—an extra-wide, vertical, locking telescoping handle with integrated “gear hangers,” providing stability and maneuverability while towing heavy loads. The 90 quart Yukon Glide features a patented rickshaw-style locking, telescoping handle, using leverage to make loads feel 50 percent lighter. Additionally, the non-wheeled line will be expanded to include a 120 quart model.

The Yukon will also be available in outdoorsmen inspired colors. “We were inspired by the success of our Sportsman™ line and wanted to also offer these highly featured cold lockers in colors and designs that allow these enthusiasts to express their personal style,” explained Lisa Silva, product manager of new product development. Sportsmen favorites, green, tan, and brown, will be offered in most sizes. Additionally, all three Yukon Sportsman colors will be customized with licensed camouflage and “Reaper” decorator lids in the 50 quart size, with other design options to follow.

All Yukon™ cold lockers feature high quality, durable design. The body has a minimum of 2” of insulation, the lid has no less than 3”of insulation, and Cool Riser Technology™ keeps airflow beneath the cooler to maintain cold. The rock solid, integrated handles offer a secure two-handed grip, even in gloves, and double as tie down loops. The over-sized, tethered drain plug allows for quick draining and clean-up. The hinge rods as well as secure lock areas are made of marine grade stainless steel and the feet are reversible to give the option of easy sliding or secure non-skid placement.

The Yukon™ is available at an MSRP of $329.99 (50 quart), $389.99 (70 quart), $579.99 (150 quart), $789.99 (250 quart), and is available in stores now. The Yukon™ 50 quart Roller has an MSRP $449.99, the 90 quart Yukon Glide is $549.99, the 120 quart retails for $469.99. These new sizes will be available in stores in early 2013. The Yukon Sportsman colors will have MSRP’s of $349.99 (50 quart), $409.99 (70 quart) and $599.99 (150 quart). Both of the new Yukon lines will be available this fall. Decorator lid options for the Sportsman 50 quart will follow in late fall.
