Who's hooking up your kids?

I bet I am not alone when I say that the greatest memories of my childhood involve fishing.

Growing up, those early days on the water and along the shoreline were valuable experiences that shaped me into who I am today. I am not ashamed to say that during my youth, fishing and the outdoors prevented me from heading down the wrong path on more occasions than one.

Any adult with even a little bit of experience will tell you that fishing off a pier, in the surf or even off a dock or seawall teaches kids patience, perseverance and a level of respect for nature they couldn't possibly get anywhere else. Ours is a wonderful sport which provides children an open door to the environment in more ways than one and helps them appreciate why we need to protect our valuable natural resources. With all these things going for it, it's a surprise that every parent isn't hooking up their kids!
