Yesterday Dec 20th we went out to the ocean South of the South West Channel off Key West. the Current was so strong that we couldn't even anchor up let alone chum for Yellowtails. We had to decide to troll offshore or try along the deep side of the reef. We hadn't had much luck earlier these fast few weeks trolling the edge of the reef except for Barracudas.

Trolling with large Mann's  30 + lures  from 40' to 80' of depth  with chartreuse colored plugs. We hit on a nice keeper Red grouper of 22". This gave  us encouragement to continue west along the reef. It wasn't long be for another rod started that great sound of clicking off like crazy. We slowed down to idle speed and battled this one in Wow!!!!!! this was a big boy 21lb Black Grouper. There here!!!!!! was all the crew shouted!!!!  groupers on the reef. We finished off the day with another Red Grouper of 26" and called it quits. Everyone went home with plenty of fish to feed our families and give some to our friends too. It's been a long wait  for the big boys to come onto the reef area, but the old fronts have been coming and going and the grouper have finally moved into the shallows. Were looking forward to some nice catches inside the patch reefs now!! Have a nice Christmas  than come to Key West after New Years and lets go catchem up.
