Esca Light |
So what is an ESCA?We were introduced to the ESCA at the 2008 ICAST show in Las Vegas. The ESCA is a unique invention from Norway that generates its own electricity by a chemical reaction of the electrodes. It lights up when it comes in contact with water and stops once it is removed. For those of you that have been deep dropping, you know that without a light, you are practically wasting your time. Even during daylight, the available light decreases rapidly underwater. Naturally fish are attracted to light and a light source in a proper presentation increases the chances for success exponentially. The ESCA offers an highly effective way of introducing light in a proper presentation to your freestyle jigging. Shortly after the show we received a couple of ESCA lights to try. It took us a while but during one of our trips to the Bahamas we added the light to a 200 g lure. The response was almost immediate and we successfully brought some real nice snappers on board. It works! If you are planning on jigging at depths over 100 feet, get the ESCA and you will be amazed by its effectiveness. ContentThe ESCA light comes in a plastic box with instructions and explanation of how it works. It comes attached to a treble hook that I rather discard. Simply attach the light to the jigging lure via the split ring and you are ready to go. The ESCA comes in two colors and two light paterns. Colors are Green and Blue and there is a fading (light fades in and out) and a blinking version We used the blue blinking and fading but have not tried the green. However, if you are planning on jigging around wrecks at less than 150 feet, you may want to try it. UseWe use the ESCA in conjunction with our jigging lures. I have been told that it works great with a sinking trolling lure and we will probably try this sometime in the future. Probably when we head out for swordfishing on a Summer night. We RecommendBLUE FOR JIGGING OVER 100 FEET GREEN FOR JIGGING BETWEEN 30- 100 FEET IN LOW LIGHT ENVIRONMENTS The ESCA lifetime is 100 hours of activation, which equates to a lot of fishing. Increase the effectiveness of your deep jigging rig exponentially. Add an Esca self powered jigging light chip to your setup. For more information, visit StingRayTackle.com
