Jacksonville and Surrounding Areas

The first true cold front moved into North Florida this past Friday and after the front you know what’s next… 15 to 20 NE winds. This should drop our water temp a little and put the inshore fish on the move.

There have been some big Jacks at the jetties along with some nice Sheepshead. The river is still holding some nice Trout but the real big ones will give way to hundreds of smaller ones in a month or so. That’s when I break out the plastics and when you find them you can wear them out.

The Reds in the creeks are starting to feed just about anytime they can. I seem to do better at the lower in coming tide myself but if you know where they are you should be able to hook a few up. Crab/mullet/shrimp or mud minnows will work when you locate the Reds.

The tides were perfect for Flounder gigging the past few days but the wind was to strong. It’s time for the big Flounder and I can’t wait for the right conditions to go stick a few. That’s the only bad thing about gigging most every thing has to be perfect as far as the tides and wind.
