Warren, RI, USA - Pearson Marine Group is the new name for Pearson Composites, a change intended to draw attention to Pearson's long and remarkable history of innovation, its emergence from the marine industry's downturn and its focus on the smart luxury brands of boats the company is building and selling. A new website (www.pearsonmarinegroup.com) has been launched to unite Alerion sailing yachts, True North expedition powerboats, North Rip sport fishing boats and to demonstrate the advantages of their shared corporate origin; this site links to the separate sites for each brand to better describe the parent company's organization.

Pearson Marine Group (PMG) was seen as a logical name-change from Pearson Composites. This company's heritage extends back 50 years to Everett Pearson, an industry visionary who built TPI Composites after co-founding Pearson Yachts. Following his retirement, TPI split into three separate profitable companies, one of which was Pearson Composites whose principal interest remained the development and manufacture of recreational boats utilizing the SCRIMP process; these included J/Boats as well as the fleet of Navy 44's. No longer just a boat builder, PMG's rich heritage is a strong foundation for their current mission to deliver premium lifestyle brands.

SCRIMP is not the only innovation in Pearson Marine Group's heritage. The company also collaborated in the commercial development of the Hoyt Jib Boom and, with Mastervolt BV, for the e-Drive Alerion sailboat which requires no internal combustion and releases no carbon for propulsion. Among Pearson Marine Group's innovation awards is the widely praised transom doors used in True North models. Pearson is credited with launching the modern "gentleman's daysailer" and "expedition powerboat" categories. Pearson's focus on creating markets is most recently illustrated by its 2010 launch of the North Rip Sportfishing boat line. Because of the unique nature of Pearson Marine Group's several boat brands, the company is enjoying interest from overseas markets in addition to its positive sales and market-share growth in North America. In addition to its North American distribution organization, the company is represented in Europe as well as Asia and just finished exhibiting at the Paris Boat Show.
