Runaway 32

Making dreams an affordable reality!

I was recently invited to preview and sea trial the latest Runaway 32. I must admit, the experience left me quite impressed. I also came to a hard realization. I realized that when most consumers are in the market for a new boat, they look straight towards well established boat manufacturers with popular names, and in doing so, often miss out on the opportunity of owning an exceptional vessel at a substantial savings in cost. The Runaway 32 is one such boat.

Runaway Boats, home based in Miami, is a small, yet leading edge company on the forefront of the boat manufacturing industry, one that has committed all of their expertise into designing and manufacturing a single, outstanding product. With the Runaway 32, the company’s clear objective is portrayed in a product that will make you not have to think twice when making that all important decision of acquiring a single vessel to meet all of your boating and sport fishing expectations.

At first glance, you’ll discover an impressive, sleek, and sexy design. With an overall length measuring 32 feet, and a wide 100 inch beam, the deep-V design provides 24 degrees of deadrise at the transom, allowing the Runaway 32 to run through four to six foot seas smoothly and efficiently. Our test boat featured twin 300 Yamaha power-plants and raced along at a top speed of over 60 mph! Even at those eye tearing numbers, the ride was completely dry. An awesome feat considering the speeds we were attaining and that there were four adults onboard.

Taking a closer look at the interior deck design, the well thought-out placement of storage boxes made it clear that the Runaway 32 was clearly manufactured from a genuine angler’s perspective. There is a large fish box conveniently located on the center forward deck, surrounded by three additional dry-storage compartments. The stern contains four strategically placed hatches, two on the deck, with two more on the transom, one of which embraces a 47-gallon baitwell with three water outlets for non obtrusive water circulation to keep your bait frisky and fresh. The livewell is also illuminated and features a clear see-through cover, a nice touch for night fishing aficionados. In keeping with the design of ample storage space, there is also a deep anchor locker at the bow with storage space for a number of fenders. I should mention that all lockers are fitted with only durable 316 marine-grade stainless steel hardware, and corrosion-free flush mounted thru-hull fittings are used throughout.

Prospective owners will really appreciate the console’s make-sense configuration which takes into account the boat’s overall design, and creates a helm station that is both sleek and functional. The console combines lockable doors which open both vertically and horizontally to accommodate even the largest of crew members. The interior of the console is upholstered and contains a removable panel where access to the electrical system is a breeze. There’s plenty of room for a portable head, and two large fiberglass boxes are located on either side where dual batteries are kept away from the elements and away from corrosion.

The console panel mounts waterproof switches and breakers in a uniquely designed layout, namely a clock-wise formation wrapping around the steering which is both attractive and functional. The lockable electronics box is protected by a splash-proof lid and offers plenty of space for a full array of new generation electronic equipment. Gaffrig gauges and throttles combined with a clear Plexiglas windshield make for an elegant look.

An added benefit with the Runaway 32 is the ability for buyers to select between a standard T-top or standard radar arch. Both include six rod-holders, the outer two of which are mounted at an angle to enhance line distribution while drifting or trolling. Mounted within the tubing’s distinctive design are fluorescent lights and two red LED lights which provide comfortable night navigation. The piping’s fortitude affords more than adequate strength for two outriggers, two rear lights, and one center-mounted search light. Furthermore, Runaway Boats designed the seating arrangement on the 32 to be amendable for both fishing and family fun. The two aft corner seats fold down and out of the way to facilitate a busy crew running around deck when multiple hook ups occur. Leave the seats up, and the Runaway 32 comfortably sits six adults.

The gunwale design, which is unusually high with 29 inches of freeboard at the stern and 34 inches at the bow, serves many purposes- one of which is to keep children safe and out of harm’s way. The waist-high all around cushioned gunwales allow anglers to wrestle big game comfortably. The gunwale’s ample width also permits tournament competitors to mount as many rod holders as necessary to suit their particular needs.

In addition to eye-popping amenities, a well constructed vessel is of the utmost importance. There is no question the Runaway manufacturing team takes quality construction very seriously because as fishermen and boat builders, they know there is nothing more important than being dry, safe, and secure while out at sea. This explains why the Runaway 32 is constructed of hand-laid fiberglass throughout using multi-directional fabric in a 100% wood-free construction process, assuring owners that their boat will last for many years to come. Rot will never be an issue, and Runaway Boats backs up that claim with a ten-year warranty on hull construction.

The Runaway Boats team also realizes that rigging is one of the most important elements to a quality built boat. One look at Runaway’s rigging processes and their clear attention to detail and you will be left with no doubt that the manufacturing team invests the utmost care in every thing they do. Rigging is done with only USCG approved hoses, the highest quality cables, and all completed in a format that allows for easy access.

As an overall package, the Runaway 32 is a versatile vessel designed for all occasions. Not only is the spacious boat perfect for spending quality time with family and friends, but also to navigate the deep blue while fishing wide open water, or just relaxing on the bay while watching the sun sink over the horizon. Equally as pleasing, the Runaway 32s fine lines and curves always make passerby’s take notice. Functional, clean, and versatile, it’s all here!

In summary, I found the Runaway 32 to be an excellent option when in the market for an open-fisherman in this size class. I have no doubt that educated consumers will determine that for themselves. After carefully weighing out all of the options, go ahead and see for yourself if a Runaway 32 is for you. If you’re still unsure, give the company a call and schedule a sea trial. You’ll quickly realize that their claim of offering you more for your money is really hard to argue with.
