WxWorx on Water revolutionizes onboard
weather service
Having live weather data right
onboard provides anglers with peace of mind and enhances their enjoyment of
fishing and boating. WxWorx, in addition to supplying the WxWorx hardware
package, is also the data supplier for the XM WX Satellite Weather service. WxWorx
assures the quality of the weather data, then packages it for distribution to
XM, who then delivers the data over a continuous satellite broadcast.
XM’s
geo-stationary satellites provide redundancy and reliability via an S-Band
transmission, regardless of the weather conditions, so it is there for mariners
when they need it most. Data products like high-resolution radar, wave
conditions, lightning and buoy data can be layered on top of each other,
allowing users to view multiple conditions at the same time, maximizing
situational awareness. Sea surface temperatures are also available.
WxWorx partners include Jeppesen
Marine, Maptech, VEI, Nauticomp and others, providing several options to fit
just about any boater’s needs. The WxWorx on Water software can be displayed on
Tablet PCs, laptops and consoles.
Recently, XM WX and WxWorx have
offered a special program for Weather Channel Marine customers whose equipment
is in the process of being phased out. The package offered by WxWorx enables
former Weather Channel Marine subscribers to receive the XM WX Satellite
Weather high-resolution graphical weather data service as well as the XM audio
service, including news, talk, sports and entertainment programming. The
package from WxWorx includes all of the standard elements in the WxWorx on
Water Premium package (including XM antenna, receiver, software, and cables) as
well as an XM Delphi Roady XT for XM audio service. Coupled with the hardware
is a special offer that provides one month free subscription to the XM WX
Master Mariner package and one free month subscription to XM radio audio
service with no activation fee for either service. To take advantage of this
program, customers must contact a participating dealer and return the existing
WSI receiver to WxWorx as proof of program qualification. Offer ends April 1,
2007.
