In the center console sportfishing category, Grady-White's new 33-foot Canyon 336 has upped the ante on innovation and continues the high standards and attention to detail that deliver the long-term value and genuine satisfaction that customers embrace. No design team is more able than the combination of Grady-White owners, dealers and engineers who once again have created a highly functional and desirable boat with outstanding performance. The proven SeaV2® hull developed with C. Raymond Hunt and Associates delivers a ride that is beyond any other in the class.

“The Canyon 336 brings together what customers and dealers have asked for in a big, powerful center console that blends comfort and convenience with first-class fishing features to ensure success on those long offshore trips,” says David Neese, vice president of engineering at Grady-White. “This boat is a stand-out with an innovative helm and seating, super cockpit arrangement, and a lockable console interior filled with great features including a berth. It's the many small details that make the Canyon 336 a big, beautiful picture. And what performance! While the 336 is available with twin Yamaha F250 four stroke engines, with the newly available F350 four stroke Yamahas she just hums along and cruises efficiently at over 30 mph with a top speed over 50 mph.

“To begin with,” says Joey Weller, Grady-White director of sales and marketing, “the lean bar/helm seating is different than what you typically see. The helm seat is on the centerline instead of situated to port so passengers can easily come and go on either side of the helm and not have to squeeze by, making tending bait, fishing lines and dock lines effortless. The ease of boat operation at the lean bar is nothing short of fantastic for comfort, ergonomics and visibility. Throttles and controls are up front and center, easy to use. The electromechanically operated electronics enclosure is adjustable to suit any helmsman’s viewing height, or weather conditions and time of day. Complete protection is provided for electronics when the enclosure is lowered. Plus, the sleek all-new fiberglass T-top option offers the offshore fisherman a mammoth radio box, rod holders, radial mounted outriggers, net storage (great for PFDs), a dome light, molded-in sound system speakers plus molded-in spreader lights fore and aft.”

Weller continues, “The big windshield is safety glass, not Plexiglas. The helmsman and passengers can sit in the adjustable chair or fold up a seat bolster to create a deluxe lean station for themselves, and either way there are deluxe cushions, armrests and footrests for genuine comfort. There is an even a 4 kW diesel generator option that powers an air conditioning in the helm area and console interior. If you think of a center console as a macho, bare bones fishing platform, this boat will absolutely change your mind. This boat's comfort actually enhances the fishing function.”

The helm seating support structure has the added benefit of providing additional space for fishing features. For starters, aft of the companion seat is a roomy 45-gallon lighted livewell equipped with an 1100 gph pump and full column aeration–a proven system for lively bait. The livewell drains overboard for easy clean up, as do all Grady boxes. The area also incorporates a rigging station with freshwater washdown, a 104-quart cooler, tackle drawers, six rod holders, plenty of bulk storage and even a handy holder for a fishing knife and two pairs of pliers. An available option is a second livewell with a 26-gallon capacity in lieu of the 104-quart cooler.

With Grady-White’s patented aft foldaway bench seat in the stowed position, the Canyon aft cockpit measures a roomy 80 square feet. With six rod holders on the gunwale, six rod holders on the lean bar and five more in the T-top, more than enough tackle is ready to go. Add two freshwater outlets, a cutting board atop the cavernous 291-quart aft fish box, a pressurized raw water washdown, a big fiberglass transom door with a super heavy-duty latch and positive locking device, and you will see that the aft cockpit is a bait rigger’s delight, ready for multiple hook-ups with those big eye and yellowfin tuna. The big aft fish box is even offered with a refrigerator/freezer option including digital thermostat temperature controls.

The bow anchor, windlass and anchor locker package is another innovation that makes moving from one spot to another nearly effortless. Raising and lowering the anchor is controlled from the helm or from the windlass area. With the touch of a button, a sturdy plow anchor is extended and retracted through the bow. The anchor and rode rest in an easy accessed locker out of the way–a safety plus. The overboard-draining locker means less maintenance, too.

The bow area also features 165-quart insulated fish boxes port and starboard that double as seating. Access forward all the way to the bow is at one level, which really helps when fishermen are chasing their quarry. Deck hardware is not only through-bolted premium-grade 316 stainless but is flush-mounted to stay out of the way when not needed. An optional insert changes the whole bow to a roomy casting platform, and with the optional cushions is a great sun deck. Comfortable cushioned seating for three is just forward of the console.

The lockable console features a roomy stand-up head enclosure with standard VacuFlush® head, a nice deep sink and a freshwater shower. An optional microwave oven heats food and beverages. There is even a berth that extends forward, providing additional storage space or a place for a tired fisherman to get a little rest. A screened window provides ventilation. Optional air conditioning adds to the comfort. There is an enormous amount of deep bulk storage in the console. Roomy drawers and net storage keep items easy to locate. There's a stand-up rack for six rods and more than enough room to lock up and store many more. The whole area looks great, too, with teak accents and a teak cover over the head itself. Access to the switch box and boat systems controls is right inside the console door, with color-coded wiring that makes maintenance a snap.

“Consider the trademark SeaV2® ride, the new highly efficient power options, Grady-White's hallmark safety features and incredible structure. Then add superior hardware including a handsome stainless steel rub rail insert,” says Neese. “Together withspecifications like a 350-gallon fuel capacity, you have to conclude that the 336 is a super boat dedicated to fishermen who want the very best. The name “canyon” is very apt for a long-range fishing boat with the comfort features to double as a great family day boat, too!”

Grady-White builds 22 boat models from 18 to 36 feet at its plant in Greenville, NC. Grady-White Boats is the only company in the coastal fishing boat category to be ranked highest for excellence in customer satisfaction in all of the twelve third-party studies of satisfaction that have been done in the boating industry.
