Notification of Fuel Surcharge

Print E-mail
Monday, 19 May 2008

For Immediate Release

Dear Valued Friends and Clients,

We at the Yankee Capts pride ourselves on excellence and we know that you have chosen us because we are the best bang for your hard earned buck. We have the most expertise, the best skills, a committed crew and staff, and we know the areas that you want to fish better than anyone around. We know you didn’t pick our boat on a whim, as we know you trust us not to make decisions on a whim. It is with this mutual understanding that I write to you today to let you know that we have, unfortunately, had to add a fuel surcharge to the cost of your trips. It is something that I think we all saw coming. With the cost of fuel rising steadily each day, it was simply unavoidable that we would need to supplement the cost somehow.

The surcharge amounts are as follows:

ONE-DAY TRIPS: $12
* This includes Georges Bank Specials, Cashes Ledge Specials, and the Bait and Haddock Express.

TWO-DAY TRIPS: $20
* This includes 2-day Georges Bank, 2-Day Georges Wrecks, 2-Day Georges Bank with Night Hake, 2-Day Cashes Ledge, and 2-Day Skipper’s Choice.

Please note that these rates CAN CHANGE AT ANY TIME!

The trips listed above do not include All Day Fishing 7-5 Limited Load trips, nor have we included Marathon trips, as these are not long distance trips, however, that could change as the fuel prices fluctuate. We also have not yet discusses the Tuna Season in New Bedford, as it’s just far too dicey to speculate so soon.

I know that you work hard for your money, and I know you could choose to go to other companies, but you chose the Yankee Capts because you know we are the best at what we do. The fact of the matter is that each year, when we set our prices in September for the following season’s trips, we have no way of knowing how high fuel prices will leap. The rise of fuel all over the country is hitting everyone hard, so we hope that you understand that we wouldn’t add this surcharge if we didn’t have to.

This fuel surcharge will be tacked on to final costs of any person booked on a trip already. It has been added to the reservations system so that customers booking trips from this point on will be aware of the additional cost as they book. As always, all remaining balances can be paid at the dock, to the Captain, upon departure. Cash or credit cards only please. If you have any questions or concerns about this fuel surcharge, or any comments regarding your trips, please do not hesitate to contact me. I’m glad to help in any way that I can. Thank you for your understanding in this matter. We look forward to fishing with you this season and for many seasons to come!

Sincerely,

Alana Rich, Office Manager
