Birthday Surprise
Our son Allen loves reading your magazine and enjoys catching anything that swims. He turned 14 on August 11, so we arranged a surprise fishing trip to Pensacola to fish with your Panhandle Field Reporter, Captain John Rivers, aboard the Mega-Bite. Towards the end of the trip, Allen's dream of catching a tarpon came true thanks to Captain John and his impressive maneuvering and coaching once the tarpon struck! After several acrobatic gyrations and about 45-minutes of struggling, we had a tired monster fish and a worn out young man. We guessed the fish weighed well over 100-pounds. What a fitting name for the boat and what a great birthday present! Thanks to Captain John and Florida Sport Fishing for playing a big part in this memorable event.
