AS SEEN IN THE FALL 2003 ISSUE
Throughout south Florida and the Bahamas, high speed trolling is
recognized as one of the most productive methods for catching
lightening fast wahoo. A swift trolling speed of over 12 knots helps
avoid annoying strikes from lure destroying barracuda, which is
definitely an added benefit when you’re dragging $100 or more in
terminal tackle.
With the upcoming hot wahoo bite, we wanted to show you a daisy chain that has accounted for many quality fish in the 30 to 60 lb. range. The entire chain is rigged on cable to prevent bite offs from ‘hoos hitting the smaller jets, a lesson we have learned the hard way.
The ‘Hoo Hurter is designed to be trolled at 15 to 20 knots. Depending on the desired depth you are trying to achieve, it can be fished with or without the added weight of a trolling sinker. Either way, the three lighter aluminum jets ride at a slightly different angle in the water column than the heavier bullet creating a larger spread with plenty of turbulence.
WARNING: Do not attempt to fish the ‘Hoo Hurter on anything less than 60 to 80 lb. class trolling
tackle. This is a heavy, big time serious lure for heavy, big time serious fish!
