*Day 3 Update Below*
CABO SAN LUCAS and SAN JOSE DEL CABO, Mexico (October 17, 2014) — Angler Gary Mowat fishing on /Minerva II/ released the only blue marlin of day two of fishing the Los Cabos Billfish Tournament to win the Daily Billfish Release Jackpot. Several striped marlin and one sailfish were also released, yet no marlin were weighed at the IGY Marina Cabo San Lucas scales. So Thursday’s Marlin Jackpots rolled into Friday’s third and final day of fishing.
Thursday’s Tuna Jackpot went to Team Gladiator angler Vernon Ritter, who caught a 60.9-pound yellowfin tuna. The Wahoo Jackpot went to red-hot Team Reel Gold with angler Richard Matson’s 43.6-pounder. Team Reel Gold still leads the tournament with its 365-pound blue marlin, and /Reel Gold/ is in the position to sweep the LCBT’s marlin jackpots. There were no qualifying dorado weighed on Thursday, so that jackpot will roll to today.
The top three Billfish Release boats going into the final day of fishing include /Picante 45/ in first place, /Pocket Aces/ second, and /Solmar/ third. Each team has one blue marlin and two striped marlin releases. It’s still anybody’s ballgame as one big fish or hot release can change the landscape on the leader board.
Winners will be recognized during Saturday’s awards dinner banquet starting at 7:00 p.m. at the Playa Grande Resort & Grand Spa’s beachside terrace. Watch live scoring and event videos at http://www.loscabosbillfishtournament.com
