20th Anniversary Stock Island Marina Village King Mackerel Tournament

KEY WEST, FL Lee Murray of Murray Marine, has announced the dates for the 20th Anniversary of Stock Island Marina Village King Mackerel Tournament, January 22nd through the 24th. “For the past two years we’ve seen a 70.68 win the 2014 event and earlier this year a 78.66 earned the top honor,” explained Murray. “These are spectacular fish and most of the top fisher people who fish the Southern Kingfish Association’s tournament trail know that big King mackerel are in Key West waters at this time of year. For this reason we’ve placed a bounty of $25,000 for anyone who exceeds this record fish weight of 78.66, and it can be accomplished.

The top prize in the event is $10,000 for the heaviest fish brought to scale with the tournament paying through 10 places as well as two places in the Raymarine Small Boat Class. There are three places for Junior Anglers as well as Top Overall Lady Angler and Top Overall Senior Angler.

Tournament is held out of the Stock Island Marina Village and registration is open to all participants. Registration is Friday, January 22nd starting at 3 pm and closes at 7 pm. A mandatory Captain’s meeting is at 7 pm. Fishing is on Saturday and Sunday with awards within one hour after the last fish is weighed on Sunday afternoon.
Tournament entry is $325 before January 8th and $425 after.

Evinrude Outboards is conducting test rides at the marina on the new E-TECG2 engines on Friday and Saturday from noon to 5 pm. This is great opportunity for anyone interested in repowering or purchasing a new boat.

The event is presented by Yellowfin Boats, Evinrude Outboards, Raymarine Electronics, Stock Island Marina Village, the Florida Keys and Key West.
