Australia Fishing Report:

Good Morning:
I recently received this fly fishing report along with a few pictures, from my friend Captain Jono Shales out of Exmouth, Western Australia. Another friend of mine “Rufus Wakeman” and his son “Marlin” were some of the anglers in this report. I hope that you all enjoy the report!
Regards:
Jake

“Hi Jake and greetings from Western Australia, I hope you are well and enjoying good fishing.

Well I’m now in season 3 of full time guiding and this year has been absolutely off the charts with catching sailfish and black marlin on fly.

Thanks so much for the pointers with regards to rigging, flies and techniques, you’ve been a great help and your info has lead to many more captures for myself and my guests.

I’ve attached a few photos from the last few months, you may recognize Rufus and Marlin Wakeman from Florida who were just out here with me for 2 weeks.

14 year old Marlin landed 3 sails and 2 blacks, Rufus landed 3 blacks.

Not sure if you remember a while back I was asking you about catching a billfish while fishing alone on the boat, well I’ve managed to tick off both a free swimmer and also a teased up one behind the boat.

With regards to the TFO rods that you kindly sent me, the 400-500 grain is a winner, unfortunately it snapped the other day when one of my guests fumbled with it close to the boat while a sail was being landed and it broke.

Would I perhaps be able to get a replacement sent, I’d be happy to pay whatever fees were involved of course.

All the best and kind regards,
Jono Shales
