Newly designed with the goal of producing the ultimate tournament equipped flats skiff, the Beavertail Lightning is 20 feet of pure speed and shallow water precision. With input from seasoned guides across varied inshore habitats statewide, Beavertail’s largest skiff to date was designed for tournament anglers with a need for speed. The most fertile shallows are often only accessible with a long run through stretches of open water, but the new Lightning makes for comfortable runs and accommodates larger horsepower engines that are highly desirable by inshore tournament enthusiasts.
The innovative hull design features a full step to reduce the wet surface, effectively increasing speed and efficiency. While this design opens the door to a new breed of shallow water anglers, Beavertail retained their signature bow flare to ensure a continued dry ride at all speeds. Additionally, there’s no hard waterline transition so anglers are afforded silent tracking at rest and under trolling motor power.
Construction begins with the highest quality gelcoat and is backed with the most advanced coring and carbon kevlar materials. The resin infusion process results in a hull that’s built to the highest standards to withstand the harshest conditions.
Providing 360 degree fishability, the unobstructed forward casting deck features an anchor locker, large dry storage compartment and insulated storage box. In the stern there’s a 35-gallon oval livewell and two insulated storage compartments that can be used as 120-quart coolers, or plumbed as 26-gallon release wells. Like all Beavertail Skiffs, the Lightning can be custom built for the particular way you fish. Additionally, the ergonomic console, under gunnel rod storage, comfortable seating and oversized gunnels make for a winning formula for dedicated flats fishermen.
