Carolina Skiff 198 DLX Tunnel Series

Continually making improvements and upgrades, the company is proud to introduce the DLX Tunnel Series. While the DLX Series is a pillar of Carolina Skiff’s brand, tracing its design back to the first Carolina Skiff built in 1983, the incorporation of practical features and an innovative tunnel hull make the 198 DLX Tunnel Series even more desirable. With the mention of Carolina Skiff most think of a flat hull, but the 198 DLX Tunnel Series incorporates an innovative hull design that vastly improves shallow water performance.

What gives tunnel hulls an advantage in shallow water is the ability to mount the motor higher than normal. Water is then fed through the tunnel to the prop to eliminate cavitation and enable the skiff to run on plane across incredibly shallow flats. While the tunnel provides a decreased wet surface, which results in increased efficiency and reduced drag, the new design also relocates the fuel tank for increased storage space. By incorporating a belly tank instead of a traditional fuel cell mounted in the stern or under the console, the design provides a lower center of gravity and further enhances storage throughout the vessel.

At the heart of every Carolina Skiff is their 100-percent composite construction, producing a solid, durable, non-flexing hull. Standard features include an 18-gallon livewell, locking console door with LED, 6 flush mount console rod holders, a 70-quart removable cooler and SS cooler frame. Building the best quality boat for a great price has always been the goal at Carolina Skiff and the 198 DLX Tunnel Series continues on the path of producing affordable, versatile and reliable platforms.
