Oranjestad, Aruba—Now in its’ fifth year, the Chivas Regal Aruba Caribbean Cup has become one of the most prestigious international billfish tournaments in the southern Caribbean, and it will once again return to the island nation of Aruba October 16-19, 2014. The event features not only the highest level of tournament competition but also serves as a fundraiser for vitally important conservation projects in the region in conjunction with The Billfish Foundation. The event itself is operated by the Presidential Challenge Charitable Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit organization based in Key Biscayne, FL.
The Chivas Regal Aruba Caribbean Cup features three days of competition following a rousing kickoff party held at Marina Varadero. The tournament culminates with a gala awards presentation as well as nightly cocktail parties after fishing each day. There are cash prizes for the top three teams as well as terrific prizes for the top anglers, crews and teams throughout the tournament.
“We’ve hosted some of the best teams in the fishing community in this tournament over the last four years and we expect another great year in 2014,” says Joan Vernon, tournament coordinator and president of the Presidential Challenge Charitable Foundation. “Aruba is a fantastic destination for this event—there’s not only outstanding fishing but also great restaurants, lodging and other attractions. It’s a good place for anglers to bring their families, who can do some sightseeing or hit the world-famous beaches while their spouses are in the tournament.”
The host hotel for this year’s event is the Aruba Renaissance Resort and Casino, located in downtown Oranjestad, while Marina Varadero is the host marina. For more information on the Chivas Regal Aruba Caribbean Cup, visit www.preschallenge.com.
