Boat Previews: Conch Boats 30

In today’s age of super-sized center consoles, it’s refreshing to see a more modest craft that still boasts big boat fishability. The Conch 30 is just that, offering the everyday boater impressive offshore capabilities on a platform that provides excellent versatility.

Believe it or not, practicality is still alive and well within the world of center console fishing boats. Despite all the flashy 40 footers out there with quad outboards, successful fishing is still more than possible on smaller vessels that are properly outfitted.

Conch has gained a great deal of respect within the angling community thanks to the venerable 27 that lines the docks of countless marinas statewide and beyond. There’s a reason countless charter boat captains choose Conch to safely transport their passengers to and from the fishing grounds. The durability, craftsmanship and refreshing simplicity of these vessels is certainly something to appreciate.

With so much success with the 27, Conch used the very same mold to create the 30, offering similar advantages, but featuring an integrated bracket and additional running surface. Prospective buyers are given a multitude of options to choose from when outfitting their vessels, as well as an array of standard features that come with the craft including insulated pitch wells, 85-gallon in-deck livewells, 10 console rod holders and Conch’s custom sea chest, just to name a few.

Another very impressive strength of the Conch 30 is its efficiency. Outfitted with a range of power options from 225 to 400 horsepower, the vessel reaches speeds well over 50 miles per hour at the low end, while burning less fuel than competing center consoles. And, if you choose to adorn the transom with Mercury’s latest Verado outboards, the efficiency is even greater as these engines are among the lightest, fastest and most efficient in the world.

The hull is built with a unique infusion process that yields a solid fiberglass finished product. Furthermore, the slight flare in the bow helps deflect salt spray, while the low gunnels near the stern allow anglers to land and release fish with ease. Coupled with the ideal power configuration, the Conch 30 delivers impressive hole shot, is quick to plane and turns on a dime. Most importantly, though, the stable, dry ride and myriad of safety features ensure peace of mind for you and your passengers. Gone are the days when the biggest and baddest center consoles took all the attention, and the Conch 30 is proof.
