I have had a wonderful first month here in the Dominican Republic, I’m sitting on the back porch of the beautiful 3 bedroom condo I have rented for the season here in Casa De Campo. Overlooking my boat for this season, the 61′ Garlington “AMBUSH”, the same boat I ran last year.
I picked up the boat in San Juan, Puerto Rico and chugged over to Casa De Campo, a nice short trip of 160 nm.
We have had some great guests with us, and have released, and mostly tagged 26 blue marlin and 2 white marlin in 11 days on the Ambush, and another 7 blues and 2 whites while fishing on other boats for a few days.
Lots of our guests caught their very first blue marlins, and then a few more !!! We had Trevor Cockle bring some of his guests down and we had some great fishing, with 8 blues in 4 days, with lots of bites and some bad luck we could have had a lot more, but thats fishing !!!
Tim Choate and his daughter Stephanie joined us for the 1st annual Casa De Campo tournament, held over 2 days of fishing. We ran off to the west where a friend of mine had 7 from 8 the day before, but the fish had moved on and we ended up making the day with 2 from 3 in the afternoon for Stephanie. The second day I went back to the “noodle” and pounded it out for 4 from 4 blue marlin, a great result for Stephanie to give her champion lady angler, and runner up overall angler, and we came 5th out of 16 boats. Cant wait for next years tournament.
I am back out tomorrow for 3 days, then another trip on Tuesday, I am then open for this moon from Wednesday April 16 thru to May 18 at Casa De Campo ( La Romana airport is 15 minutes away) and then we are up at Cap Cana ( Punta Cana airport is 10 minutes from the Marina) through august and then back home to Australia to get the TRADITION ready for another big Cairns season.
Marlin University in on again at Cap Cana May 20 to 24, and I am the next boat to be booked, so if you always wanted to come and fish an have a great time with like minded people and learn a whole lot, now is the time to book for this fun week of fishing.

Australia – Gold Coast to Cairns Sept 1-14, lots of options, little black marlin , outer reef exploration for marlin, tunas, GTS and Wahoo and Dogtooth Tunas,
Cairns – heavy tackle Sept 15-25 finish in Cooktown
– heavy tackle Oct 8-12 Cooktown to Cooktown
-Nov 11 onwards thru Dec 10, heavy tackle, a couple of dates still available
-Dec 11 to Dec 23 Cairns to Gold Coast, outer reefs, marlin GTs, etc, fishing rarely fished areas on the way south
