Tonight is the first of two nights of fly fishing for tarpon with my good friend Josh Hayes, and his friend Dave Caldwell, both from Alaska. I have known Josh since he was a fanatic fly fisherman working at Mountain view sports in Anchorage, as a teenager. Josh is one of the good guys, a great angler and one of the top fly fishing guides in Alaska.

The wind was blowing from the east at 25 to 30 knots, the water temperature had dropped from 84 yesterday to 81.5 tonight, seas were very choppy, and there were 7 boats out there at sundown in these rough seas. After several hours where no boats got any bites, they all left, and then I went to where the fish had moved to. We got 7 bites, jumped 5 Tarpon, and released 3 big 100 pound + tarpon on fly using 20 pound tippet, during the last 90 minutes of the trip.

Both Josh and Dave were very excited to learn my technique for hooking and fighting these big fish, and landing them quickly. We had a fun filled fly fishing adventure, I love my Job, wish you were here.
