Greetings from Tarpon World:
Sorry for the lack of fly fishing reports from Tarpon World, during the last five days, Me and my anglers were chased off of the water due to heavy lightning, thunder, very hard rain and high wind at 1:00 Am the night of May 14. Then on the night of May 15, we had another bout with lightning, rain, and wind.
The rain, lightning and thunder was through by Friday May 16, it was replaced by 25 to 35 knot north wind, very rough seas, and small craft warnings which lasted through today, March 18. There was a minor worm hatch on the worm bar in the evening of May 16, and 17, however it was too rough for me to go out and I am glad that I missed it. For those worm chasers, it looks to me that the worms may hatch in the lower keys in about 2 weeks after the new moon.
I am going to try to get back out on Monday evening June 19, to give it a try if this hard wind drops down just a little, then it is back to my normal routine every night until the beginning of June. I love my job, even with bad weather, stay tuned for more reports to follow shortly.
