May 30, 2014:
Henry Frazer and Rob Bearfoot from Oriental NC, fly fished for Tarpon with me for the second night in a row, aboard “Fly Reel” here in Tarpon World. The wind was from the southeast at 10 knots and the water temperature was 85 degrees while we fished between 2:30 and 6:30 AM. It was very dark and the fishing was slow, however we did jump our first couple of Tarpon around 4:15 AM on the northwest corner of Pelican slew, one fish cut through the 100 pound bite tippet and the other pulled the hook.
Later after 6:00 AM they turned on and we jumped 4 more silver king on the northeast edge of Silver king bank. Bad luck as none of the 6 jumped fish stayed hooked long enough to get a release. It feels like the Tarpon fly fishing is slowing down, I hope that they turn on for my last 10 nights of fly fishing here in Tarpon World. I love my job, wish you were here. More reports to follow.
