Greetings from The Florida Keys:
Tonight, my fly angler was Chris De Angelo from Italy, this was a late night trip which ended early as the sky got light and the bite ended at dawn. Chris and I began fishing at 2:50 AM at the north end of Silver King bank, where the tarpon were feeding on a red hot worm hatch. Chris hooked, jumped, caught and released his first Tarpon on his first cast, a male of about 80 pounds.
Fishing remained red hot until dawn, as the sky began to turn blue, the bite ended and we never saw another Tarpon after that. Chris jumped 10 Tarpon, all between 80 and 125 pounds tonight, (his biggest fish of the night was 125#), He caught and released six Silver King on fly during just over three hours of fly fishing for Tarpon. I really love my job, wish you were here, Happy Good Friday, and Happy Easter to all. More fly fishing reports to follow.
