Greetings from Sailfish World:
Today, March 10 2013, my Sailfish School students Chris Weatherley, his daughter Isabel Weatherley, and Eric Hirschhorn from Dallas Texas, met up with me for a world class breakfast at the Casa Vieja Lodge breakfast dining room at 6:00 AM. After breakfast, we headed over to the Sailfish Marina where we boarded “Makaira” with captain Jason Brice, and his two mates Jeffery and Wilson.
Today Brian Horsley first group of fly anglers split in to two teams, and started their first day aboard ” Rum Line” with captain Chris Sheeder, and “Intensity” with captain Mike Sheeder. The first part of my report has the Intensity team with 18 bites and 10 sailfish caught and released on fly, while team Rum Line got 20 some bites, and they caught and released 16 sailfish on fly today. Release and Spindrift were fishing conventional tackle and caught close to 30 on each boat.
Meanwhile, Isabel, (14 years of age) caught 3 Sailfish on fly today, all in all Chris, Isabel, Eric and I raised over 40, got 40 bites, and we caught 12 sailfish on fly. Isabel dig great, while her dad and his partner Eric, on there second day of The Sailfish School, looked line professionals.
I love my job, wish you were here, stay tuned for more red hot fly fishing reports from The Casa Vieja Lodge in Guatemala!
