Homosassa Fishing Report
Finally we have a good push of sea trout on the Citrus county coast line. Cooling water helps plus cloudy days and rain. Some of the more productive areas are Mangrove Point, west of St. Martins Keys and near the North West Keys. The best baits have been D.O.A. Deadly Combos with the golden bream glow tail 3” shrimp and MirrOlure LIL’ Johns in watermelon red flake. Out going high tide is the best bite.
Red fishing is still very good although I haven’t been catching the over slot fish as much. Most reds are good slot size fish and eager to eat artificial baits. The grass has thinned out and lures are working very good. High incoming tide is the best time to fish for them. The shallow rocks are producing good numbers of grunts, sea bass and flounder but not as many mangrove snapper as before. Live shrimp on a jig head is the best bait. If you decide to fish the shallow rocks be sure to bring a heavy casting rod with a lipped plug to catch that bonus keeper gag grouper. High incoming tide this weekend will be in the morning. Capt.
