Introducing Full Line of A1A Series Rods

Cousins Tackle Corp. of Huntington Beach, California has unveiled its new Florida A1A Series of premium quality, American-made graphite and composite casting, spinning and conventional rods. This new rod family — 25 models in all — was developed in cooperation with Florida fishing legend Dave Justice. Working closely with Cousins’ expert rod designer Wade Cunningham, this “dream team” has created a family of rods with actions fine-tuned for Florida fishing techniques and hard-fighting inshore gamefish like bonefish, reds, snook, permit and tarpon.

At the heart of each A1A Series Rod — named for Florida’s iconic ‘fishing highway” — is an American-made graphite or composite blank engineered for lightness, sensitivity and hook-setting power. Each is built with meticulous attention to detail and the finest components, including Fuji reel seats with black silver fittings and hand-turned, Grade A cork grips shaped especially for Florida anglers. Cousins uses Fuji K-Series black frame Alconite guides, which are triple-wrapped in attractive black, teal and silver threads (a color scheme unique to A1A Rods). Three coats of UV-resistant slow-cure finish ensure long-lasting performance and good looks.

The A1A line includes seven IM-8 Graphite Casting Rods in Fast or X-Fast actions and lengths of 7’, 7’3”, 7’9” and 8’3”. With line ratings of 10-15, 12-20 or 20-30 lb. test and lure weights ranging from 3/8 oz. to 4 ounces, these seven rods cover a variety of inshore casting applications. MAP pricing for these premium rods ranges from $220 to $420.

The series also includes 14 IM-8 Graphite Spinning Rods in lengths of 6’8”, 7’, 7’3” 7’6”, 7’9”, 8’3” and 8’9”. These rods are all Fast action and are rated for 8-12, 10-15, 12-20, 15-25 and 20-30 lb. test line. The ability to fish baits and lures ranging from 1/8 oz. all the way up to 4 ounces shows the versatility of this family of premium spinning rods. MAP pricing for these rods ranges from $200 to $420.

Cousins also offers three Graphite Conventional Live Bait Rods specially designed for inshore live bait applications. There is an 8’ Medium Fast action 15-25 lb. test model, an 8’ Fast action model rated for 25-40 lb. test, and an 8’ Medium Fast action rod rated for 30-50 lb. test with Fuji HB Series guides for the heaviest inshore bait fishing applications. MAP pricing for these rods ranges from $420 to $450.

Completing the Cousins A1A Series family is a Composite Conventional “Swimbait Special” Rod engineered for the increasingly popular technique of fishing saltwater swimbaits. This rod is built on an 8’ graphite composite blank with an X-Fast action and line rating of 15-25 lb. test. MAP pricing for this model is $385.

With so many purpose-designed options, anglers can find the “perfect action” for their favorite Florida gamefish and their favorite style of inshore fishing. The thought, engineering and careful manufacturing that go into A1A Series Rods make each one a precision tool that can improve the effectiveness of even the most experienced angler. The combined reputations of Dave Justice and Cousins Tackle stand behind each and every A1A rod, promising an optimal fishing experience.
