Los Suenos Fishing Report:
Good Morning All: As I sit here at home in Havelock, North Carolina where we have had lots of rain. It looks like it will not stop for at least 3 or 4 more days, I was thinking about my awesome trip last week in Costa Rica. My friend, (IGFA board member), Roy Cronacher and I, just had one of those trips which seem impossible until they happen. We left Los Suenos Marina, at noon on July 27, fished all day on 28 & 29, and arrived back at the marina late on July 30.
During our trip with two 13 hour days of fly fishing, we raised 61 Blue Marlin and 3 sailfish, got bites from 12 Blue Marlin and 3 Sailfish, and we caught six Blue Marlin between 125 and 250 pounds along with three Sailfish on fly. All of these nine Billfish were caught and released while using Mako #9700 Fly Reels, TFO Bluewater Heavy Duty fly rods, RIO leviathan 550 grain fly lines, 20 pound class tippet, Gamakatsu 7/0 & 8/0 octopus hooks, and Cam Sigler tube flies. Roy has now joined a very small club of fly anglers who have caught three Blue Marlin in one day. I will head back down to Costa Rica for more Blue Marlin on Fly action next Sunday, stay tuned for more reports, I love my job.
After I sent my last report, I received an E-mail from my good friend, world class photographer, Matt Harris. He sent along some of his fine camera work of fishing in Norway and Russia. These are several locations where I have fished in the past. Check out these fine pictures, I think that Matt really has captured the feel of these fine Salmon waters.
