The Robalo story of endurance, innovation and quality dates back to 1968 and the company’s first 19 foot boat. At present time, when many boat companies are forced to slash budgets, Robalo continues to invest in new product development, offering aggressive factory rebates to move dealer inventory and bolster their already impeccable customer service. New for 2015 is yet another stunning platform to enhance Robalo’s already proven fleet of bay boats, center consoles, dual consoles and walkarounds.
Perfectly suited for anglers who want to navigate big water but need a trailerable boat, the R242 sports a dry riding, offshore style freeboard. Where the fiberglass meets the water, Robalo’s legendary HydroLift hull design transfers hydrodynamic pressure from the sharp keel to the wider strake surfaces for ultimate control and efficiency. The reduced deadrise on the outer edges of the planing surface combines with a reversed chine to provide additional stability at the all-important low end where fishermen spend most of their time.
An engineering marvel, the R242 incorporates a Kevlar reinforced hull and showcases stainless steel hardware throughout for ultimate corrosion resistance. Robalo’s lamination schedule is enhanced with Imedge gelcoat for superior resistance to yellowing, fading and chalking. Hydropel, a modified acrylic epoxy resin, doesn’t allow water to permeate, which keeps the original shine looking new for longer.
Inside, the R242 features an innovative cockpit layout that mixes tournament ready fishing features with family fun and carefree cruising. Avid fishermen will appreciate the boat’s three insulated fishboxes, twin livewells, supportive toe rails, bait prep center and 14 standard rod holders. To make finding fish easier, the Robalo R242 is available with Garmin electronics, including an 8.4-inch color display, 4KW HD Radar and VHF radio. When it’s time to sit back and recount the action on the high seas, the R242 features a multi-purpose arrangement including a hideaway aft bench seat and fully bolstered wraparound seating in the bow.
