Snappers & Bonitos

Today we started out like everyday searching for some live bait, after putting in some time we found a decent school of pilchards in 30′ just inside of Davis reef. After loading the well we anchored near Davis in 85′ and started chumming heavily with frozen chum as well as live pilchards to try and wake up the reef. We did well catching our limit of Yellowtails. The larger ones were caught on live pilchards and plenty more drifting cut baits in our chum slick. Also caught a mutton snapper on the down rod and a yellow bar jack and lots of Bonita’s . To end the trip we dumped our live wells in 120′ in hopes of raising a Sailfish. No Sail but we chummed up 3 schoolie Mahi and managed to catch 2. Lots of action and filets for our half day charter.
