Team Suzuki Repower Takes the Prize in the IFA Redfish Tour

Captain Travis Yaeckle and Josh Corr fished to a third-place finish in the 2018 Inshore Fishing Association (IFA) Redfish Tour Tournament in Ruskin, Florida September 15. The fish that put the team into third-place was a 12.86-pound slot redfish. Together the pair are Team Suzuki Repower/Mastry Engine Center and fished from a custom-built tunnel hull skiff with a tower powered by a 2018 Suzuki DF140A four-stroke outboard.

The IFA Redfish Tour is a series of tournaments for inshore anglers fishing for Redfish in a professional format. The tour was formulated to provide inshore anglers an opportunity to display their talents on the intercoastal waterways. Now in the second decade the IFA Redfish Tour has awarded several million dollars in cash and prizes and numbers its members in the thousands.

Captain Travis Yaeckle and Josh Corr are cousins who grew up fishing together and have been fishing competitive tournaments as partners for over 15-years. The owner, Captain Travis, is a full-time professional Tampa Bay inshore fishing guide and lives in Ruskin.

When asked about Suzuki outboards Captain Travis explained, “Fish don’t stay in one place, they move as the weather and tides effect their habitat. In tournaments we run hard to get to the bite and with Suzuki we have a powerful and reliable outboard that we can count on. As a guide, taking clients out for a day of fishing, fish are only caught when lines are in the water so getting to the bite fast is important. I rely on Suzuki outboards because they are the leader in four-stroke outboards and they specialize in that technology.”

The weather and fishing conditions were favorable for the tournament. 65 boats participated. As the third-place finishers Captain Travis Yaeckle and Josh Corr, of Ft. Myers, Florida, won a total of $2,564. The anglers stayed close to the launch and sight-fished soft plastics.

“The tournament was very competitive. Conditions were good in the morning,” said josh. “We followed our pre-fishing pattern and caught two good fish.”

“I especially would like to thank our team sponsors, Suzuki , Grizzly Coolers, Rhodan Marine, Power-Pole, Bull Bay Rods, Shimano and Simrad,” added Captain Travis. “We could not have done it without them.”
