In today’s day and age versatility is the name of the game. Whether you cruise the bays or have the need to navigate the inlet in search of offshore game fish, safety and sturdiness are equally important. Despite a nontraditional look, catamarans offer dry rides and a sense of steady security when moving about the casting platform and cockpit. Committed to producing boats with this goal in mind, Tideline Boats of North Carolina offers the 235 Hybrid with all the smooth stability of a cat while integrating the attractive aesthetics of a custom-built sportfishing platform.
When used to describe a boat, the term hybrid is tossed around a lot, but the Tideline 235 is a true crossbreed by definition. As such, a shallow draft enables this sweet feline access to the bays and flats while a defined deadrise permits leaving the inlet into wind-driven swells and surface chop.
A large casting platform forward, with pop-up cleats on the gunnel, allows for a snag-free casting space and you’ll notice two large access hatches on each side leading to expansive dry storage beneath. Additional storage comes in the form of port and starboard 225-quart insulated midship fishboxes and a 30-gallon oval livewell behind the leaning post, which also features a side-enclosed tackle center for easy access.
Comprising the glassed-to-deck console is a Plexiglas windshield with handrail, ample battery storage and a console-mounted electrical panel with circuit breakers, two cup holders and a stainless steel steering wheel rounding out the hydraulic steering system. Eight gunnel rod holders from mid-ship to aft along with four under-gunnel rod holders and a leaning post rocket launcher give anglers much needed storage to keep a variety of outfits within easy reach.
While standard seating is limited to the helm, optional features provide for a cooler/seating package ahead of the console with added seating on either end of the transom and a forward deck cushion. Each Tideline is built to order with current lead time as of press date approximately five months. This North Carolina firm builds only one other model, the 190 Bay, denoting a sense of dedication, flexibility and attention-to-detail largely missing from larger companies and the many models they produce.
By definition versatility is related to value, and if you’re in the market for a boat that can be towed to the local boat ramp and head out the inlet without a second thought, this cat is for you. The Tideline 235 Hybrid sets the standard for those would-be owners who demand safe navigation of channels and basins or fishing select offshore spots with a ride that will prove to be dry and soft in all conditions.
